Massive fines in Ligue 1 after more than 70 professional players, managers and coaches breached sports betting ban.

This was reported by the Professional Football League of France, which imposed sanctions on at least 76 football players, club owners and coaches for violating the ban on betting on sports.

Among them are two football players who played at the World Cup in Qatar, Cameroonian Jean-Charles Castelletto (Nantes) and Ghanaian Alexander Djiku (Strasbourg).

Oleksandr Djiku received a one-game suspension and Jean-Charles Castelletto faces a four-game suspension.

“Auxerre” goalkeeper Donovan Leon and “Brest” striker Irvin Cardona received the most severe punishments. The former will miss 5 games, while the latter received a 4 game suspension and a €1,500 fine.

Guillaume Lemire, the goalkeeping coach of the women’s club “Paris Saint-Germain”, was also suspended for four games and fined 2,000 euros.
