Morocco’s national airline said it was canceling all flights scheduled for Wednesday to transport national team fans to Doha for the World Cup semi-final against France, citing a decision by Qatari authorities, Reuters reported.

“Due to the latest restrictions imposed by the Qatari authorities, Royal Air Maroc regrets to inform customers of the cancellation of their flights operated by Qatar Airways,” the airline said.

The Qatari government’s press service did not immediately respond to requests from Reuters.

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) had previously said it would operate 30 extra flights to help fans get to Qatar for Wednesday night’s semi-final against France, but a source at travel agency RAM said on Tuesday that only 14 flights were scheduled.

The cancellation of seven flights scheduled for Wednesday meant that Royal Air Maroc could only operate seven flights on Tuesday, leaving fans who had already booked match tickets or hotel rooms unable to travel.

Royal Air Maroc said it would refund the plane tickets and apologized to customers.

Spokesmen for RAM and Qatar Airways did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
