
Loredana Toma won two gold medals at the World Weightlifting Championships in Bogotá, Colombia on Monday, with a successful performance in the 71 kg weight category – in the deadlift and the all-around.
Toma won the 119 kg javelin, a new world record among senior women, the Romanian Weightlifting Federation reported on its Facebook account.
Loredana placed fourth in the shot put at 137 kg, while she finished first overall at 256 kg. She was followed by Chinese Tiantian Zeng (253 kg) and Angie Palacios (Ecuador – 252 kg).

The Romanian delegation will end its participation in the WC in weightlifting with three medals. In addition to Loredana Thom’s two gold medals, Michaela-Valentina Cambey also won a silver medal in the 49kg Olympic snatch.
537 athletes from 93 countries are taking part in the World Weightlifting Championship. These are the first qualifying competitions for the 2024 Olympics (from Paris).
Romania was represented by 6 athletes, four women and two men, reports Agerpres.
