A thick blanket of snow fell on the center of Wimbledon and the linesmen’s job would be difficult if the Grand Slam followed the World Cup model and was held at this time of year.

“Tough day to be a linesman,” joked competition officials in London.

The referee’s mission was also complicated by Wimbledon’s strict dress code: all athletes must be dressed entirely in white.

Since Friday, a cold wave has been observed in the United Kingdom: the temperature was below freezing almost throughout the country, and heavy snow fell in some places.
