David Popovich will use CM for experience

A two-time world and European champion in the 100m and 200m freestyle, David admitted he is not a fan of the shorter distance (25m) but will use the world championships in Australia as a way to gain experience.

“I don’t think it’s a bluff to say that I don’t like short-distance races. I am somewhat built for long distance competition.

The turns and starts are more intense over a shorter distance, so it’s a great opportunity to gather information and gain experience and become the best version of yourself.

Of course there is a rivalry between myself and Kyle Chalmers, but I think the rivalry is only in the 50m. Kyle holds the world record in the 25m and I am the world record holder in the distance.

So maybe in a few years this rivalry will become real. My goal is to make it to the finals, and as we all know, when you’re in the finals, you have a chance.” Davyd Popovychquoted by the COSR Facebook page.

“Melbourne is great. I have wanted to come to Australia for a long time. Sports culture is a big thing in Australia. Children and adults here love a healthy lifestyle, practicing swimming and water sports, as well as everything related to sports.

People here are very friendly and open. It is nice to see so much greenery and to be here in the summer. I like! Although the event hasn’t started yet, I’m sure it will be one of my favorite events,” he added Davyd Popovych.
