The World Cup in Qatar brought new methods aimed at simplifying refereeing decisions, with Europe’s top league announcing the introduction of technology already used at world finals.
Serie A, the first league to use a semi-automatic offside detection system
Lorenzo Cazzini, president of Serie A, announced on Friday that Italy’s top flight would benefit from the reinstatement of a semi-automatic offside detection system.
It was used for the first time at the World Cup in Qatar.
Serie A will resume on January 4, 2023, with Salernitana vs AC Milan (1.30pm) and Sassuolo vs Sampdoria (1.30pm) scheduled for early next year.
Serie A will thus be the first European league to use this technology.
