Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure has seen Manchester United turn their attention to another striker, with the PSV Eindhoven man their top target.
Dutchman Cody Gakpo, who is wanted by Manchester United
“Manchester United” will begin negotiations for the Dutch player Cody Gakpo in the coming days, according to the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old striker scored three goals at the World Cup in Qatar and is tipped to start in the quarter-finals when the Netherlands face Argentina on Friday.
PSV Eindhoven are demanding around £50 million and prefer to part with the player only at the end of this season. In the summer, the Dutch rejected a £33m bid from Leeds.
United also wanted Gakpo in the summer and even opened preliminary talks, but eventually settled on Anthony, for whom they paid £82m to Ajax.
