Japan – Croatia – 2:4, World Cup 2022 round match in Qatar

Croatia started the match better, possessed the ball and put pressure on Gonda’s goal. Against the flow of the game, Maeda opened the scoring in the 44th minute after a corner kick.

In the second half, Perisic equalized with a header from Lovren’s cross in the 57th minute.

Towards the end, the players of both teams showed signs of fatigue, without creating big goal-scoring situations.

After 90 minutes the score was 1-1. Two additional periods followed, which did not bring anything new, waiting for shots from 11 meters.

Japan conceded 3 penalties through Minamino, Mitoma and captain Yoshida, only converting one penalty through Asano.

The Croatians were fresher and scored through Vlasic, Brozovic and Pasalic, the only penalty not being scored by Livajho. Goalkeeper Livakovic was the Croatian hero, saving three shots from the Japanese.

The national team, coached by Zlatko Dalic, reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and is waiting for the match between Brazil and South Korea to find out the opponent.
