2022 World Cup, Australia 1-0 Denmark: Lecky qualified

With Lecky’s 60th-minute goal, Australia beat Denmark 1–0 to advance to the World Cup play-offs. Arnold’s team scored six points in the fourth group.

Denmark, who came as a big surprise at last year’s Euro, finished fourth in the group with one point.

Yulman’s team had the ball and were aiming for the net. In the 7th minute, Ryan blocked Braithwaite’s attempt.

There were few good moments in the match in the first 20 minutes. On 19′ Denmark had a good moment when Mele turned the ball over and Ryan lost it, but Sutar cleared.

Three minutes later, Schmeichel blocked McGree’s shot. At the 25th minute, Denmark threatened again, but Olsen’s shot was weak. The pace of the match slowed down noticeably due to several good phases in front of the two hosts.

Arnold’s team took the field better in the second half and threatened with set pieces. Australia made it 1-0 in the 60th minute thanks to Lecky’s excellent individual effort. In the 73rd minute, Cornelius headed the ball, but the ball flew out.

Yulman’s team couldn’t be much of a threat. Denmark didn’t stop after conceding a goal, while Australia held the lead relatively comfortably.

In the 88th minute, Ba shot through the flank, trying to get knocked out.
