In the 54th minute, the midfielder crossed for Cristiano Ronaldo, and the ball flew into the goal. Ronaldo was delighted with the goal (though he initially thought he had scored) but the goal was credited to his former Manchester United team-mate.
The “double” was scored by Bruno Fernandes in the 90th + 1st minute, who converted a penalty for a handball by Gimenez.
Portugal took 6 points to advance to the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar, while Uruguay remained bottom of Group H with one point.
