Brazil comfortably beat Serbia 2-0 but Tite’s World Cup debut in Qatar ended in tears for Neymar. Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) doctor Rodrigo Lasmar announced on Thursday that the PSG superstar has sprained his right ankle.

Neymar sprained his right ankle

According to the doctor, the injury occurred during a direct knee strike by a Serbian player. Neymar, 30, also suffered a right ankle injury in 2019 that forced him to withdraw from the Copa America.

“We need to wait 24 to 48 hours to get another assessment” of the seriousness of this injury and the possible absence of the player substituted at the end of the match against the Serbs, Lasmar stressed.

Tite reassures fans: “Neymar will continue to play”

However, coach Tite said he was “sure that Neymar will continue to play” in Qatar.

“Don’t worry, Neymar will still play in the World Cup! He will continue to play, you can be sure of that!” – Tite, coach of Brazilat the press conference.

Shortly after this press conference, the player left the stadium, limping slightly, without answering questions from journalists, with bulky headphones on his head, accompanied by a member of the Brazilian staff, writes Agerpres.
