Olivier Giroud (36 years old) made history with the French national team, scoring twice in the match against Australia (4:1) in Group D of the World Cup in Qatar.

Thanks to two successes, the forward of “Milan” reached the 51st milestone and became the best scorer of his country, comparing himself with the legendary Thierry Henry. Shortly after the match, Giroud spoke about the productive game.

The French newcomer made it clear that he wants to score at least once more in his country’s shirt, so that the first place in the list of the best scorers in France goes to him alone.

“On a personal level, I couldn’t ask for more. It’s a great thing to be proud of, I’m not going to stop there. Hopefully we’ll go as far as we can in the competition to reach our goal. We’ll take each game in turn and see that we improved every time,” Giroud said, according to French media.
