In an intervention for Prosport, Luskan talks about the doping case involving Simona Halep and launches a possible option.

Trace amounts of roxadustat were detected in Simona’s 2022 US Open sample.

Luskan says that in sports it also happens that a drug or drink can contain traces of banned elements (substances that are considered doping).

Excessive use of such a drug can sometimes lead to the following aspect: the presence of a prohibited substance is detected in an anti-doping analysis.

Dragoš Luskan wants to say the following: if Simona took medication that contained roxadustat (and it was not on the prohibited list) and used it repeatedly, there is a possibility that this substance (even if in small quantities) will be against – doping control.

“There is a possibility that sometimes you use certain substances that are not on the list (not banned), but if you use them in higher doses, they may appear during anti-doping control,” explained Dragos Luskan, according to the aforementioned sources
