Max Verstappen won his second consecutive world title and the race in Brazil was a no-brainer for the Red Bull driver. However, it meant something to his teammate Sergio Perez, but the Dutchman made an inexplicable gesture.

Max Verstappen violated the instructions of the pit engineers

For the first time in the “Big Circus”, George Russell won the Brazilian Grand Prix, and his colleague Lewis Hamilton became the second.

With no stakes after claiming his second title, Max Verstappen has been a vital pawn in the battle between Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez, who has the chance to move up to No. 2 in the drivers’ standings.

In Sunday night’s clash at Interlagos, Max Verstappen disobeyed his team’s orders and refused to allow Sergio Perez to overtake him, sparking a tense late-race dispute.

Sitting in 6th place at the time, the reigning champion refused the urges from the pits and did not allow himself to be overtaken by Perez, who finished 7th at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The visibly angry Mexican reacted at the end of the race and commented on his teammate’s gesture.

“I think he got two world titles also because of me! I don’t understand why he did it.”

Red Bull Radio Talk – Max Verstappen – Sergio Perez

Red Bull: “Cheko, Max will miss you”

Peres: “Damn! Thanks for this guys. Thanks!”

Red Bull: “Max, skip Checo. Max, what happened?”

Verstappen: “I already told you last summer, don’t ever ask me that again! Did we understand? I told you my reasons and I stand by them”

Red Bull: “Sorry about that, Cheko.”

Peres: “It shows who he really is”

The fight for second place in the drivers’ standings will take place at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix later this week. Perez and Charles Leclerc are tied, both with 290 points.
