​Aryna Sabalenko did her job on Friday, beating Jessica Pegula to reach the semi-finals of the 2022 Tournament of Champions, helped by a result recorded in another group match.

Sabalenko (7 WTA), who was ranked third before the match with Pegula (3), won after an hour and a half of play with the score 6-3, 7-5. Athletes from Belarus needed Maria Sakkari (5) to win at least one set against Ons Jabert (2) from Tunisia to advance.

Having already qualified for the penultimate act of the Fort Worth event, Sakkari completed the group perfectly, overcoming Jaber (who committed 31 unforced errors, three times as many as her opponent) 6-2, 6-3 and avoiding a meeting with Iga Sviatek. The Greek woman will play against the winner of the match Karolin Garcia (6) – Daria Kasatkina (8) to reach the final.
