Simona Halep was suspended after testing positive at the 2022 US Open, while Alexis Ohanian, husband of Serena Williams, posted a message that tennis fans called “classless”.

Hours after the International Tennis Integrity Agency reported, Ohanian retweeted a photo from his wife’s match against Maria Sharapova at the 2019 US Open.

At the time, the founder of the Reddit platform was wearing a T-shirt with the logo of DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education, an anti-drug campaign carried out in America in the 90s), the message was aimed at Sharapova, a player who was returning from a 15-month suspension (positive test for meldonium).

Without mentioning Simona by name, Ohanian wrote on Twitter on Friday: “What are you wearing on Halloween this year???”. The American continued in an obvious allusion to the Romanian: “It seems to be a look that will never go out of style.”

Supporters of white sports quickly came to the defense of Simona Halep, and some directly attacked the American businessman.
