New stadium in Constanta – Investments will exceed 100 million euros

This summer, the Municipal Council of Constanta approved the transfer of the Gheorghe Hagi Stadium, i.e. the historic Majak Arena, to the National Investment Company (CNI).

The old stadium in Constanta will be demolished and a new arena will be built in its place, and the total cost, according to officials, will exceed 500 million lei, which is just over 100 million euros.

According to a statement released by the local team from Constanta, Farul, the new stadium by the sea will have a capacity of approximately 18,000 seats, with an estimated design and construction time of 28 months. In addition, the arena will have a maximum 4 level of UEFA classification.

In addition to the stadium, a training ground with a capacity of 1,000 seats will be built, which will be equipped with 6 tracks, training rooms, a conference center, exhibition space, administrative and commercial premises.

Gike Hagi sees his dream come true

The financier of the Constanta team, Gheorghe Hagi, was confident in an interview with GSP in May:

“Our government is close. From my point of view, I think that if desired, the stadium can be completed in 2024. Everyone wants a stadium. Approval should come from Bucharest and everything seems to be going well. I think that in 2024, in the summer, we will be able to play at the new stadium.

We want to build a stadium, but we are a 100% private club. We are also doing well in the Academy, we have many sponsors, we also have the biggest company in Romania on our chest, it supports our children,” he said Hagi.

The current stadium in Constanta was built in 1970 and modernized in 1999. Its capacity is 15,500, but it is in a deplorable state.

Currently, “Farul Constanta” plays at the “Ovidiu” stadium with 4,500 seats.
