Russia’s Anna Blinkova and Italy’s Jasmine Paolini will play in the final of the Transylvania Open 2022 after winning the penultimate act of the WTA 250 tournament in Cluj-Napoca on Saturday.

Blinkova (138 WTA) had a very balanced match with her compatriot Anastasia Potapova (48 WTA, favorite 4), but won after two hours and 24 minutes of play with a score of 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

In the other semi-final, Paolini (78 WTA) beat China’s Xia Wang (59 WTA, favorite 7) after two hours and 27 minutes of play, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Previously, Blinkova and Paolini met four times and shared victories: the Russian won at the ITF in Manchester (2017) and the Australian Open (2020), and the Italian triumphed at the applicants’ tournaments in Bol (2021) and Kontreksville (2022).
Transylvania Open takes place from October 10 to 16 in Cluj-Napoca, it is played on indoor hard, the tournament is part of the WTA 250 category, it has a total prize money of $251,750 and the title champion is Anette Kontaveit.
