Gabriela Ruse was just a few points away from qualifying for the quarterfinals of the Transylvania Open 2022, but was eventually defeated by Xiu Wang, the seventh seed in the WTA 250 event.

Gabriela Ruse lost to Sia Wang in the 1/8 finals of Transylvania Open 2022

Gabriela categorically lost the first set (1-6) and won with a break in the second set (3-4), but she made an impressive comeback and took the match to a decisive moment after winning the fourth set point (10-8 at the tea break).

Ruse saved two match points (one at 3-5 and one on a tiebreak) but eventually lost to the Chinese, who is ranked 59th in the world, 7-6(6).

The match lasted three hours and 22 minutes.
