Gabriela categorically lost the first set (1-6) and won with a break in the second set (3-4), but she made an impressive comeback and took the match to a decisive moment after winning the fourth set point (10-8 at the tea break).
Ruse saved two match points (one at 3-5 and one on a tiebreak) but eventually lost to the Chinese, who is ranked 59th in the world, 7-6(6).
The match lasted three hours and 22 minutes.
