​Gabriela Rousse reached the 1/8 finals of the Transylvania Open 2022 tournament on Tuesday, our athlete managed to beat the Frenchwoman Harmony Tan (122 WTA, lucky loser) in three sets.

Ruse, ranked 104th in the world, lost the first set in a tiebreak 7-6(5), but managed to come back to win after two hours and 35 minutes of play, 6-2, 6-3.

Gabriela, the only representative of Romania who remained on the board of the “WTA 250” competition from Cluj-Napoca, will defeat Sia Wang (59 WTA, favorite 7) in the next round. The athlete from China defeated Jacqueline Christian in the first round.

After reaching the 1/8 finals, Gabriela Ruse secured a prize of $3,800 and 30 points in the WTA ranking.

The Transylvania Open takes place from October 10 to 16 in Cluj-Napoca, it is played on indoor hard, the tournament is part of the WTA 250 category, it has a total prize money of $251,750 and the title champion is Anette Kontaveit.
