Andreescu (57th place in the world ranking) won in three sets with a score of 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-2 against the Russian Lyudmila Samsonova (23rd place in the world ranking).

For a place in the quarter, Bianca will have to fight with the winner of the match between Coco Gauff (sixth favorite) and Robin Montgomery.
