Ana Bohdan was defeated by Jules Niemeyer in the first round of the Transylvania Open

Bohdan, the third favorite in the “WTA 250” category, lost to Julie Niemeyer (Germany, 74 WTA) 7-6(5), 6-2 after a match that lasted almost two hours.

Ana reached world No. 46 after going very well in the final period, had big problems on serve in the second set and Niemeyer had three breaks.

  • In the next round of the tournament in Cluj-Napoca, Jules Niemeier will meet the winner of the match between Olga Danilovich (159 WTA) and Kamilla Rakhimova (127 WTA).
  • Ana Bohdan will receive $2,725 and one point in the WTA ranking for being in the main draw.

The Transylvania Open takes place from October 10 to 16 in Cluj-Napoca, it is played on indoor hard, the tournament is part of the WTA 250 category, it has a total prize money of $251,750 and the title champion is Anette Kontaveit.
