Iryna Begu has withdrawn from the main draw of the Transylvania Open, a WTA 250 tournament that starts this weekend at the BT Arena in Cluj-Napoca.

Begu (32), who is ranked 33rd in the world, last played at the WTA 250 tournament in Parma and lost in the quarterfinals to Ani Bohdan (September 29).

According to the organizers, Begu was forced to withdraw from the competition in Cluj-Napoca due to medical reasons.

Harriet Dart took Iryna’s place in singles.

Other changes in the supervisory board followed the resignations of Sara Sorribes Tormo, Mayar Sherif and Oleksandra Krunic. Their places were taken by Sinyu Van, Dalma Galfi and Varvara Grachova.

In addition, Emma Reducanu announced that she will not participate in the Transylvania Open due to a wrist injury that is forcing her to end the season early.

The Transylvania Open Qualifiers will take place on October 8 and 9, 2022, with the main draw matches on October 10-16.

Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard will play in the qualification. The athlete from Canada played in the final act of the All England Club in the 2014 edition (she beat Simona Halep in the semifinals).

Yevgenia is currently ranked 506 in the WTA ranking.
