Vaccination against Covid-19 will not be mandatory for spectators who want to attend matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. However, they will have to present a negative test to enter the country, the Doha government and the Higher Organizing Committee announced on Thursday.
“Individuals arriving in Qatar are not required to undergo quarantine, regardless of their vaccination status or country of origin.” specify the organizers.
However, at the check-in desk at the airport of departure, any visitor over the age of six must present a negative result less than 48 hours prior to departure for the PCR test and less than 24 hours for the antigen test.
You will not need to take a new test upon arrival.
Wearing a mask will be mandatory for everyone in public transport and health care facilities.
Anyone who tests positive during the tournament will be required to self-isolate for 5 days and then wear a mask for 5 days.
Visitors over 18 will also need to download the Ehteraz tracking app, which is required to enter closed public areas.
More information on the use of the Ehteraz app during the tournament, especially in the stadiums, “will be communicated in due course”, the organizers told AFP.
They also clarify that “emergency medical care will be offered free of charge in public hospitals for holders of the Hayya card,” which acts as a visa to Qatar and as a match ticket, writes News.ro.
All private and public hospitals, medical centers, clinics and pharmacies in the country will be open to visitors.
The tournament will be held from November 20 to December 18.
