As such, Sepunaru was sanctioned by the Disciplinary Commission of the Romanian Football Federation with a one-game suspension and a sporting fine of 9,400 lei.

At the same time, the host club, U Craiova 1948, was punished with a sports fine of 52,500 lei, according to Agerpres.

At the end of the game, Sepunaru took part in a conflict with one of the opposing fans, who broke into the stadium’s changing rooms in Tirgu Giu. After this quarrel, the fan of the Oltene team was sanctioned by the gendarmerie.

Daniele Nikulae, president of Rapid Bucharest football club, said on Monday that he believes there is no reason for Cristian Sepunara to be suspended following the incidents.

“I don’t expect any suspension for Sepunaru because he obviously has no reason to be suspended. I think it’s not worth talking about the unpleasant events that happened to Craiova, because a considerable amount of time has already passed, and Kristi Sepunaru has no grounds for disqualification. I hope and firmly believe that he will not be suspended, because there is no reason to suspend him.” – said Nikolay at the National Arena.
