Kyrie Irving (Brooklyn Nets) lost more than $100 million due to not getting vaccinated against Covid-19

Comfortable BBCIrving says not vaccinating cost him dearly: $100 million.

Last season, Kyrie was unable to play in Brooklyn Nets home games until March due to restrictions on unvaccinated people against Covid-19 (New York’s ban on unvaccinated people indoors).

The 30-year-old was also unsure of his presence in the squad for all the away matches in question, as it depended on vaccination requirements in different US states.

A seven-time All-Star, Irving is clear about the significant amount he lost by not getting vaccinated.

“I gave up four years, 100 or so million dollars when I decided not to vaccinate, and that was the decision. Get a contract, vaccinate or not vaccinate, and there’s a certain level of uncertainty about your future, whether you’re going to be in this league, or whether you’re going to be on this team, so I had to deal with that real … Life circumstances of losing a job because of that decision,” Kyrie Irving was quoted as saying by News.ro.

The new NBA season begins on October 18, 2022, and Irving will play for the Nets for a $36.5 million offer, but can become a free agent next summer.

He expected to sign a new contract in 2021.

“We had to figure it all out before training camp last year. And it wasn’t because of my unvaccinated status. So, I understood their point and had to live with it. It was a tough pill to swallow, to be honest,” the NBA star added.
