Romania’s women’s 8+1 crew won gold medals at the World Rowing Championships in Racita, in the final event of the competition on Sunday in the Czech Republic.

Romania (Magdalena Rusu, Iuliana Bugush, Adriana Ailinchai, Maria Tivodariu, Madalina Beres. Amalia Beres, Ioana Vrincanu, Denis Tylvescu, Victoria-Stefania Petreanu) dominated from start to finish in the rowing queen competition, showing a time of 06 min. 01 sec 14/100, ahead of the Netherlands (06:05.04) and Canada (06:07.51), writes Agerpres.

At the 2017 World Championships in Sarasota, Florida, Romania did not win gold in this event.

  • 1st place in women’s double rowing: Ankutsa Bodnar, Simona Radish
  • 1st place in double frames among men: Marius Kozmiu and Sergiu Bejan
  • 1st place in the women’s category 8+1: Magdalena Rusu, Iuliana Bugush, Adriana Aylinchai, Maria Tivodariu, Madalina Beres, Amalia Beres, Ioana Vrynchanu, Denisa Tylvescu and Victoria Stefania Petrianu;
  • 4th place in women’s doubles frames: Ioana Vrynčanau, Denis Tilvescu
  • 4th place in fours among women: Mădălina Bereş, Amalia Bereş, Magdalena Rusu, Roxana Anghel
  • 4th place in the men’s foursome: Miheice Ciganescu, Mugurel Semchuk, Stefan Berariu, Florin Lehaci
  • 6th place in men’s four rowing: Mihai Chirutse, Ciprian Tudose, Ioan Prundianu, Marian Enake.
  • 6th place in the men’s tournament 8+1: Miheitse Ciganescu, Mugurel Semchuk, Florin Arteni, Konstantin Adam, Marius Kozmiuk, Sergiu Bejan, Stefan Berariu, Florin Lehaci, Adrian Munteanu.

Our country’s delegation participated with 11 boats and 35 athletes at the World Championship in Rachice. In the medal count, Great Britain took first place with 7 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze awards, followed by Italy (5-3-1), Romania (4-0-0), etc.

The previous World Rowing Championships were held in Ottensheim (Austria) in 2019, and Romania won two silver medals, in the men’s foursome (Miheici Tsiganescu, Mugurel Semchuk, Stefan Berariu, Cosmin Pascari) and the women’s twosome (Ancutsa Bodnar, Simona Radis).
