
Ionela Kozmiyuk on Friday won the gold medal in women’s singles rowing in the lightweight category at the World Rowing Championships in Racice (Czech Republic).
Kozmiuk, the gold medalist at the European Championships in Munich this summer, started the race more difficult but finished stronger, taking the victory without a problem.
After 500 m Kozmiuk was third, at 1000 m he was second, as well as at 1500 m, one and a half seconds behind the first, but in the end he finished the race in 07 min 42 s 59/100, almost two seconds ahead of the second Dutchwoman Martin Veldhus (07:44.48), and the bronze medal went to New Zealander Jackie Kidle (07:44.98), reports Agerpres.
