Roger Federer is hours away from the last match of his career, and Rafael Nadal, his great rival, will be his teammate. Being present in London for the Laver Cup 2022, the Swiss grand champion also clarified the issue of GOATS in world tennis.
Federer, Nadal or Djokovic – who is the GOAT in tennis?
According to their preferences, tennis fans are divided into three categories (they are unequal): some see Federer as the best of all time (they clearly have their reasons), others see Nadal (they also have their own explanations), and others see Djokovic (and there are enough arguments here) .
Mr. Ideal offered his own take on the highly publicized GOAT debate in men’s tennis.
“Let’s be honest. This is a topic that can lead to good conversation and fun debate. You can talk about this forever, but it’s a little silly that we are constantly being compared.
But I know it’s inevitable, the human condition leads us to it, and I do it too, for example, with my children. I have four, and although it is not worth it, it is impossible not to compare. But it is impossible to choose one or the other,” he said Roger Federer at the beginning of the discussion with APNews.
Who exactly sets the rules by which we choose the GOAT?
Continuing his speech, Roger says that it is impossible to find common ground on the criteria by which the GOAT is selected. You can only develop an endless discussion π
βIs it better to dominate for several years in a row, or is there more honor in someone who returns to the highest level after an injury?
Is it more important to win as a youth or as a veteran? Success on hard court or on grass is more important? – Roger Federer.
Mister Perfect clarifies the GOAT’s situation in tennis: it is impossible to define
“The debate is endless. Personally, I don’t care, and when they beat me (without Nadal and Djokovic), I didn’t even think about the stats or whether they would win more or less.
I don’t think any of us (BIG 3) will be happier than the others because they will end their careers having won more Grand Slams,” concluded the big Roger Federerquoted by Eurosport.
