The Laver Cup kicks off on September 23 in London, and the players who will take part are spread across the British capital. However, Casper Ruud provided the moment of the day by ditching dinner with idol Roger Federer to take part in a podcast with Barbara Shett.

Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas are part of the European team for the 2022 Laver Cup, they were present for several days in London.

The European players have a WhatsApp group and Federer invited his teammates to dinner on Thursday. Casper Ruud turned down an invitation from Mister Perfect, citing the fact that he was supposed to take part in a Eurosport podcast with Barbara Shett, a former tennis player.

Casper Ruud turned down dinner with Roger Federer before the Laver Cup – instead took part in a podcast with Barbara Shett

A frothy dialogue between Barbara Shett and Casper Ruud:

Barbara Shett: What is the most important phone number you have saved in your phone book? Besides your girlfriend, of course, and your loved ones. I mean the famous people that are in your phone.

Casper Ruud: It’s funny you ask me because before this Laver Cup there was a Whatsapp group with all the players. And I finally got Roger’s phone number. It took a while, but now I have it. He sent us all a message today – you should feel honored, Barbara – because in that message he invited us all to have dinner together tonight at 9:00 p.m. I said, “I’d love to come, but I have a podcast with Barbara Shett.”

Barbara Shett: You’re stupid, seriously, you should have gone to dinner with these guys. Dear good!

Casper Ruud: I’m having dinner with them tomorrow night. I put you first today, Barbara.
