Mircea Lucescu said on Thursday evening, after the loss to AEK Larnaca in the Europa League (Group B, score 1:0), that at one point he thought of leaving the Ukrainian group, but did not do so, because “someone has to be with the players and help them in this difficult period”.

When asked if the situation has changed after he spoke about a possible departure from Dynamo Kyiv after the match against Dnipro-1, Lucescu said that someone should be with the players who were affected by the war in Ukraine.

“It is a difficult question, a difficult situation. At some point I even thought about it. But someone has to be with the players and help them in this difficult time. We need to focus on the domestic championship and the Europa League.

As I said before the game, at the moment we don’t have a permanent place, we don’t play at home, we travel for days because the families of the players are scattered around Europe. The players cannot concentrate on football. But we have to overcome it” – Mircea Lucescu.

Regarding the match against Larnaca, Mircea Lucescu said that his team had a goal disallowed unfairly.

“We dominated, especially in the second half, and actually played a good game. We missed the last pass. Our mistakes are not related to skills or tactics, but come from a psychological basis. So I had a bad start to the match and quickly conceded a goal. Unfortunately our goal was disallowed, although as far as I could see it wasn’t offside.
