Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, the Red Bull driver took first place a few laps before the finish line in Zandvoort. The podium was completed by George Russell (Mercedes) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).
Lewis Hamilton did not change tires at the end of the race and paid dearly
The race at Zandvoort was lively thanks to the different tire strategies of the teams for the Grand Prix Final. The presence of the safety car on the track also played an important role in dynamizing the race (it came on the 56th lap due to an incident in which Valtteri Bottas was in the foreground).
The leader on the 60th lap (of the total 70) Lewis Hamilton paid dearly for the chosen strategy with the tires (he did not go to the pits and stayed on the used carriers), and Max Verstappen (on the recently changed software) overtook him without any problem on the straight line from the beginning.
Moreover, the Briton was also overtaken by teammate George Russell (Mercedes), as well as Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) – also by software. The decision not to enter the pits cost Hamilton the presence on the podium in Holland.
