Bianca Costea reached the semi-finals of the 50m freestyle at the World Junior Swimming Championships in Lima on Saturday, while Andra Gorecki reached the penultimate stage of the 100m butterfly.

Costea easily qualified for the semi-finals after winning the heat with a time of 25.77 (second overall).

On Sunday, September 4, from 03:01 (first heat) and 03:06 (second heat), the semi-finals of the women’s 50m freestyle will take place. We are talking, of course, about Romanian time.

Andra Gorecki reached the semi-finals in the 200 m butterfly

Also in Lima, Goretskyi (17 years old) finished in two pools with a time of 1:03.34 (13th overall).

The semi-finals of the women’s 100m butterfly will take place on Sunday, September 4, from 02:36 (first heat) and 02:42 (second heat).

Romania, an extraordinary result at the Junior World Championship in Lima

So far, Romania has won five medals at the World Championships in Lima:

  • silver at the distance of 400 m freestyle among men (Vlad Stanku)
  • gold in the men’s 4×100 m freestyle relay (David Popovici, Alexandra Constantinescu, Stefan Kozma and Patrick Sebastian Dinu)
  • gold at the distance of 200 m freestyle (David Popovichi)
  • silver in the 4×100 m freestyle medley relay (David Popovici, Patrick Sebastian Dinu, Bianca Costea and Rebecca Diaconescu)
  • bronze at the distance of 800 m freestyle (Vlad Stanku).
