Boxer Oleksandr Usyk defended the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles after a points victory over Briton Anthony Joshua. The athlete, among others, was congratulated by Volodymyr Zelenskyi (President of Ukraine) and Vitaliy Klitschko (Mayor of Kyiv).
In Jeddah, Aski defeated Joshua by points, he was declared the winner by two of the three judges (113-115, 115-113, 116-112).
“It was difficult, but this victory is so important and necessary. Defending the title of world champion is a symbol that shows that all Cossacks, like us, never give up, fight and eventually win,” – Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Facebook.
“Glory to Ukraine. Glory to his heroes. We continue to prove that we can win: in sports and on the battlefield. Ukraine is a strong country. We will also defeat the Russian barbarians. Glory to Ukraine, free and dignified!” said Vitaliy Klitschko.
By the way, the current mayor of Kyiv is a former WBO heavyweight world champion.
Oleksandr Usyk was in the ring in the colors of Ukraine, and on his equipment was written: colors of freedom.
