Beatrice Haddad Maia: Simona Halep was better, braver

At the press conference after the grueling final with Simona Halep, the Brazilian athlete explained where the difference was in the grand final of the WTA 1000 tournament.

Haddad Maya recognizes the superiority of Simona, who clearly states that she was braver in the finale. The Brazilian also says that she could not cope with the strong emotions she had.

“Today we had a very difficult match. None of us necessarily started the final well, there were many emotions. Although I was 3-0, I couldn’t handle my emotions, I couldn’t control myself, and Simone started playing better and deserved to win the first set.

Then I tried to find my rhythm, to be more aggressive, but she was better than me today, she deserved to win, she was braver.

That’s tennis: sometimes you win, sometimes you learn, and it was a match to learn from.” – Beatrice Haddad Maya.

At the age of 26, Haddad Maya is currently ranked 16th in the world (a career high). He has 387 wins and 187 losses during that time and has won $2,188,096 in tennis so far.
