David Popovici qualified for the semi-finals of the 100m freestyle at the European Senior Swimming Championships in Rome on Friday. The Romanian athlete showed the best time of the series, as well as the record of the competition.

Popovici showed the best time of the series – 47.20, which is also a record of the competition.

The other three Romanians competing in the 100m freestyle, Patrick Sebastian Dinu, Gheorghe-Alexandru Stoica-Constantin and Mihai Gergeli, did not make it to the semi-finals.

Stoyka-Konstantin finished the series in 37th place, Dina – in 53rd place, and Gergeli – in 58th place.

Also, on Friday, in the 50 m butterfly, Oleksandra Viktoritsa Bohdanechi did not make it to the semifinals, taking 32nd place.

The 100m freestyle semifinal is scheduled for 7:33 p.m. Romanian time.
