
South Korea’s Kim Min-seok, the 2018 and 2022 Olympic medalist in figure skating, has been banned for 18 months after being involved in a drink-driving accident.
The accident happened on July 22 at the National Training Center in Seoul. Kim wanted to escort two colleagues to the dormitory after a birthday party where he had been drinking.
The coach of the South Korean national ice skating team, Kim Jin-soo, has been suspended for a year for failing to supervise his athletes.
Among the passengers, Jung Jae-woong had previously been disqualified for one year for drunk driving. His brother Jung Jae-won was suspended for two months.
Kim Min-seok won a silver medal at the Pyeongchang Olympics (2018) in the team event and a bronze medal at the same event in the 1500m. In Beijing (2022), he won a medal again in the 1500m, according to News.ro.
