Reigning champions Bayern Munich and Europa League holders Eintracht Frankfurt open the 2022-2023 Bundesliga season on Friday 5 August from 21:30 live on Digi Sport 2 and Prima Sport 2.
Bayern Munich, the 10th consecutive champions and recent German Super Cup winners, also start this season as heavy favorites and have a first-leg shock when they travel to Deutsche Bank Park, the home of Europa League trophy winners Eintracht Frankfurt.
Eintracht Frankfurt are in great spirits after a season in which they finished in 11th place but won the Europa League (the second continental trophy in the club’s history after the UEFA Cup won in 1980) and are preparing for the European Super Cup against Real Madrid ( Wednesday, August 10, 22:00, Olympic Stadium in Helsinki).
Oliver Glasner, appointed to the technical bench of the Eagles last summer, made several important moves in the team: Norwegian Jens Petter Hauge, loaned last season from Milan, was purchased permanently for 10 million euros; also €6 million was paid for Lucas Alario (from Bayer Leverkusen), €4 million for Mario Gotze (from PSV Eindhoven), €3.5 million for Kristian Jakić (from Dinamo Zagreb) and €2.5 million for Hrvoje Smolčić (from Rijeka).
Bayern Munich made their official debut in the new season in the German Super Cup, 5-3 against RB Leipzig (Saturday, July 30) right at the Red Bulls’ ground.
Julian Nagelsmann also moved brilliantly in the transfer market: the departure of striker Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona was complemented by the arrival of Sadio Mane from Liverpool (32 million euros), and instead of central defender Niklas Sule, who went without a contract to Borussia Dortmund, Matthijs De Ligt was brought from Juventus Torino (67 million euros).
Also arriving are Nussair Mazraoui (right-back, free), Ryan Gravenberch (central midfielder, €18.5m), both from Ajax Amsterdam, and Mathis Tel (striker, €20m) from Rennes.
In the last five direct matches, Eintracht Frankfurt won twice, once on the field of the Bavarians, and Bayern Munich won three games.
Superbet offers odds of 1.45 for Bayern to win against Eintracht Frankfurt.
