Mitsotakis: The government has no way to cooperate

“I’m fine. A bit tired after repeated campaign speeches. Even the coronavirus can’t keep up with my pace. It’s an infection. It’s still here, it’s not gone. Today we have the cure. I believe that just like the flu, we will be vaccinated once a year,” said in an interview with MEGA. Kyriakos Mitsotakisbefore running for office on 25 June.

He characteristically said that the ballot box is empty and citizens have to vote again and that he is satisfied with the high percentage received by NDthe rate he said increases his responsibility for the execution of his program.

“This is certainly not an empty order to assume that the result is certain,” he continued, and regarding the possibility of a third election, he said: “In the elections, we vote for the government. If the electoral law had acted in the previous elections, we would already have a government. We must vote again and we need a stable government the next day. There is no way to form a coalition government. It’s a logical conclusion when PASOK says he won’t be co-ruler.”.

ABOUT YOU Mr Mitsotakis said he had been saying it was a priority long before the recent tragic incidents. At the same time, he touched upon the main points of the ND program for health care and the reform of the National Health Service. Among other things, he referred to the Oikoten program, which he was told about in the morning at the Agios Savvas hospital.

“This is a small example of the many good things that are being done. I want to be sure of one thing. I will personally deal with the new NSS project,” he said, emphasizing that the task is big.

For debate he said it was a good first step, despite the limitations of the process. “I think useful conclusions have been drawn. It will happen again. We will also add a free question from journalists. They must be able and willing to squeeze us, and I believe they did. We will discuss our plan the next day and make it clear that the outcome of the election is not a foregone conclusion. Citizens sent a clear signal, but it needs to be confirmed. Our enemy is the solarium, the beach, complacency. Citizens know very well why they are voting and are asking us to move faster.”

Full interview with Kyriakos Mitsotakis:

Regarding the possibility of debates with the opposition, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that this always happens with all political leaders. “They know me and Mr. Tsipras. To some extent, citizens are tired of the ongoing election contests. I don’t think they’ll learn anything new by watching the debate between them.”he added.

For television appearances by political leaders in entertainment shows said he did so after the 2019 election. “I think mainstream entertainment shows are deeply political shows,” he added, noting that they raise deeply political issues that are difficult to raise in more classic political shows.

“I think it is important that citizens understand that we are outside of politics. Let’s go out more relaxed,” he added.

Regarding Tik Tok, Mr Mitsotakis said: “This is not my new image. Tik Tok showed who I really am, that’s who I am. On TV you see me in a tie. Tik Tok is primarily youth, not just an image. The youth voted for us not only because of Tik Tok, but because we talked about their concerns. I really enjoy Tik Tok and it gives me the opportunity to laugh at myself, make jokes and thus get some of the intensity of the work.”

To the fact that in his teens he had a prime minister dad, he said that “you have a sense of responsibility, and I always tried to balance.”

She also said that “we must be open to criticism, it must be conscientious and factual”, and therefore she does not respond to comments on social media. “Of course, I accept well-intentioned criticism. Both my kids and my wife can be very strict, especially when it comes to behavior. This job is hard, it has a lot of power, it has a part of the fame and visibility, but when the lights go out, everything becomes very difficult, we deal with crises, I have to face a lot of difficulties,” he added.

When asked if he had a nickname, he referred to the link “Culis” and stated: “Used somewhat derogatoryly. There was targeting. It’s all about politics. The world has turned its back on toxicity. Society doesn’t want toxicity and wants to look at things more optimistically. The ballot box was not only silent, but also sent a message of normality and dedramatization. People don’t want more fights and fights on TV.”

I never started with the dream of becoming a politician, and certainly not with the hope of becoming a prime minister. With my father’s experience, I hardened and said as a life decision that politics was not for me, so I worked for ten years before reevaluating. I worked and learned how the economy works and something more important to have a boss and be consistent. To kids who want to get into politics, I tell them to do well but work before,” he said elsewhere in the interview.

When you enter politics as “Mitsotakis”, you have an advantage, but you also gain enemies.. The first elections in 2004 were relatively easy for me, but then things got more complicated. At some point, there was a reasonable reaction of society to what we call political families. I think that after 20 years in politics and 4 years as prime minister, I managed to get people to see me as Kyriakos, and the fact that I am from a political family is not a significant criterion,” he said.

When asked if he should give ministries to other political leaders depending on their nature, what would he do, he said he would answer Tik Tok. “I ask for the right to think and return,” he said.
