
Prime Minister Ioannis Sharmas called a meeting in Maximos Palace on the question of ensuring proper policing in the context of State continuity.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of State, Vasilios SkourisMinister for the Protection of Citizens Charalambos Lalouzisand chief of police Lazaros Mavropoulos.
According to the press service of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Citizens Protection presented the full range of police activities: the tasks of policing in large urban centers and at the borders of the territory, the contribution of the police to the implementation of the decision on urban violations in tourist sites and its actions to ensure the safety of visitors .
The chief of police mentioned in particular the reallocation of police manpower to meet the increased needs of the area due to the tourist season.
Special mention was made of the enforcement by the police of the individual’s right to freedom of movement, which is violated in relation to people with disabilities due to illegal parking of vehicles on sidewalks and crossings.
