PROBLEM
Social media toxicity. The result of the elections on May 21 proved, as already carefully and comprehensively analyzed (including “K”), that hyperactivity on social networks, likes and resonance of some opinions not only did not affect the outcome of the elections, but on the contrary, they had only a short duration . Social networks are self-referential media. When a rumor, a fabrication, an exaggeration is built to – indirectly or directly – discredit someone or attack a group of people on social networks, it usually collapses when – very quickly – the circle of those already converted to the cause is exhausted. It was once said that the liar and the thief rejoice in the first year. Where “time” in social networks is put “hour”.
DILEMMA
“Mitsotakis or Bakoyannis” is a dilemma only in terms of which of the two brothers knows Chania better. However, yesterday I think that Dora Bakoyannis lost to her brother Kyriakos. After the end of the tour of Kyriakos Mitsotakis around the prefecture, Mrs. Bakoyannis invited all local candidates from N.D. (Sevi Voludakis, Alexandros Markoyannakis, Vassilis Digalakis, Yannis Kaselakis and Hariklia Dermanakis) and their associates. At the table were also the heads of the ND State Electoral Bulletin. Irini Agapidakis, Yiannis Kefalogiannis of Rethymnon and Kostas Kefalogiannis, Maximos Senetakis and Antigoni Andreaki of Heraklion. Mr. Mitsotakis’ closest associates, Stelios Kontadakis, Thanasis Nezis and Christos Zografos, were among the lucky ones who ate various things, including the tavern’s famous shrimp pasta. The pre-election pound needs a month to go. I don’t know the weight of two pre-election periods combined…
FACE
Kyriakos Velopoulos. The president of Hellenic Solution makes himself famous for what he hides. Having received a percentage that can withstand the pressure created by the polarization between the main parties, he appears mainly in areas where his party is strong (northern Greece) and tries to talk about everything, of course, in a familiar style and subject matter that he prefers. At ERT, Mr. Velopoulos spoke with the confidence of a tech expert about everything: public debt, investments, fishing zones, the tax system, shipping, education, constitutional revision, energy, debates, Greek-Turkish, Greek-Albanian relations, agricultural production and much more- much more. The president of Hellenic Solution probably felt that the conflict with the rival “pole”, Dimitris Natsios’ Nika party, was not good for him, and took clear steps back, as, of course, he quickly came to the conclusion that behind the formation that was created a few weeks before the elections on May 21, hides the ND. (which was rejected by the head of Victory). Given that the church has officially disassociated its position from any discussion of Nika’s support, Mr. Velopoulos has no choice but to avoid association. Let’s see how long this situation lasts.
PLACE
Albanian Foreign Minister Olta Tsacka is expected to hear personally in Oslo this morning that interest in imprisoned expatriates Fredi Beleri (the elected mayor of Heimarra) and Pantelis Kokavesi has not waned in Athens. Foreign Minister Vassilis Kaskarelis may be an official, but he knows the job very well, and today he must tell his Albanian counterpart that for Athens, the release of two emigrants is more than a condition for the possibility of a serious discussion between the two countries. Mrs Yachka is a key person. Mr. Kaskarelis is said to be in constant contact with the Greek Ambassador to Tirana, Konstantina Kamitsi, who has pledged to keep in touch with the two imprisoned émigrés, their families and lawyers, according to diplomatic sources.
ATTACK
“The humorous selection has been on our site for years to make the Free Sailing page famous! Today it happened! Go to our website, follow the instructions, in the wonderful voice of Diamantis Karanastasis, and come, let’s change the world with … a heart (more precisely, a red heart emoticon).” A transformed Zoe Constantinopoulou tweeted the news, explaining that the “bank robber” option for party website visitors who would like to volunteer for a common cause was apparently humorous. This election season, Ms. Constantinopooulou almost always finds a cute way to be the center of attention.
