“We are fully aware of the difficulties, but at the same time, we are also fully aware that what most Greeks are asking for is a solution to their problems.“, – added Mr. Tsipras, pointing out that “we have a duty, a historical duty, to prevent the possibility of uncontrolled right-wing omnipotence.”

“Today’s formation and meeting of the new Electoral Commission is real proof that we are listening to the message of the Greek citizens, receiving this message and doing our best to become better. Let’s change on the go. Our answer is one: we set the bar high and mobilize all human resources to achieve our great goal, which is to change the correlations on May 21 in the light of the upcoming elections, a new election campaign.

We are fully aware of the difficulties, but at the same time, we are also fully aware that what most Greeks are asking for is a solution to their problems. He asks for justice, the elimination of inequality, he asks for answers to important questions that concern him in his daily life, in his future. Our decision is to try in the next period to recreate the program positions and proposals of SYRIZA-PS for the next four years. The positions of our program will be the focus of our campaign for the next period.

We will talk about big problems and our proposals. In fact, about health care, about education, we will talk more clearly in the next period of time about how citizens can have a higher income. We will have the opportunity to highlight the big dilemma and stake for the next four years: how and under what conditions and who will manage the 70 billion from the Recovery Fund.

The entire Electoral Commission will contribute to these efforts. Everything and even more will be used for this purpose. I want to thank each and everyone who agreed to participate in this new selection committee. Other leaders with great experience, even from the battles of the memo period, other political leaders who express what is most creative and turbulent in Greek society today, and other leaders who combine technocratic competence with political recruitment. It was in a think tank we created some time ago. I especially want to thank Comrade Dionysius Tebera, who agreed to be the coordinator of the Electoral Commission. A representative of a new generation, present in his professional field as a militant labor lawyer who can weave together this thread of history, the struggle of the left, with the modern struggle for justice, equality and freedom.

I want to appeal to the thousands of leaders and members of SYRIZA: let’s fight to overturn the correlations. We know the difficulties, but this is our goal. The next period will be for us a period when we will mobilize all the possibilities that we have for an individual appeal to every Greek man and woman. We can do better, we can reverse these unfavorable associations.

In any case, however, we have a duty, a historical duty, to prevent the possibility of the omnipotence of an uncontrolled right that will come in the next period to impose radical change. Let’s go and reverse the correlations.”
