With the stamp of a presidential decree, on Monday afternoon, dissolving the short-lived, 24-hour duration only, new parliament with composition highlighted ballot boxes last Sunday, and again the announcement of elections on – unexpectedly – June 25, the country will again enter into pre-election period.

This will be preceded, according to the Rules of Procedure of Parliament, by the swearing-in of deputies tomorrow afternoon and the election of the president on Monday morning.

The information indicates that Mr. K. Tasulasas well as for the positions of vice-presidents, the same persons as in the previous period, with the exception of two who were not re-elected: instead of Mr. D. Vitsa RS. Meropi Tsufi (SYRIZA) and in place of Mr. Abdelas, Mr. K. Chitas (Greek solution).

New elements

There will be several substantive or procedural new elements in this campaign compared to what we experienced leading up to the May 21 vote.

The leaders and officials of the parties that will take part in the upcoming elections will once again carry out tours, performances, as well as television appearances without restrictions, since the new elections will be held according to lists: ballots that will be drawn up under the responsibility of party leaders in the manner by which the criterion traditionally is the May 21 crusade, except, as always, for the right of the leaders to change.

These new ballots remind the voter not to place a cross next to the name of the candidate of their choice.

The second change in this area is that even the number of these ballots is currently unknown, as the number of combinations that will be drawn remains largely unknown.

With numbers so far, in addition to the five (ND, SYRIZA, PASOK, KKE and Greek Solution), Niki, Pleoussi Eleftherias and MeRA25 were close to, but short of, the 3 percent threshold to enter parliament.

“Cutoff” of the first time K. Bogdanos with Patriotic Force and Afr. Latinopoulou with the Voice of Reason, while the prisoner Il.Kasidiaris is also looking for a “vehicle” for his descent.

However, everything will have to be judged first, as the well-known institutional procedure will be repeated: the respondents will submit signs, programs and candidates to the Supreme Court for the plenary session of its first section to judge whether they correspond to what the law provides.
