According to the new Decree of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and following the corresponding proposal of the government, the Parliament will be convened for the first ordinary session on Sunday, May 28, instead of Thursday, June 1, as was established by the Presidential Decree dissolving the previous Parliament.
In particular, on Sunday, May 28, at 18:00, the deputies will be sworn in, and the next day, on Monday, May 29, at 10:30, the deputies will elect the chairman of the body. It is noted that the Chairman of the Parliament is elected by name and by an absolute majority of votes from the entire number of deputies.
If no one obtains an absolute majority, the vote is repeated between the first two by number of votes and the person with the most votes is elected.
