Further developments will depend on the decision made on Monday, which primarily concerns the official assumption of the duties of mayor by Freddie Beleris.
The whole case, which caused a strong reaction not only among the national Greek minority of Albania, but also in Greece itself, is currently under the jurisdiction of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK).
In a statement, U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez called Freddie Belleri’s arrest problematic.
