Androulakis: Tsipras thinks he can save himself by suppressing PASOK

Four days before the opening of polling stations, the President PASOK-Movement for ChangeNikos Androulakis, in a radio interview, once again dismissed the scenarios about a special purpose government that Alexis Tsipras left open yesterday in his cross-channel interview.

“Special Purpose Government? No, normal government. A normal government that will have a clause on a commission of inquiry without the abuse of privacy,” Mr. Androulakis said in an interview with REAL FM.

What do some people want? Conduct a preliminary investigation without first investigating those who did not appear before the first commission of inquiry because they were covered by Mr. Mitsotakis and the ruling majority of New Democracy so that we would reach a dead end.; What do I understand about Mr. Tsipras? What Mr. Tsipras is doing is somehow alarming. What Mr. Tsipras has been talking about lately has no stability. One speaks for the government with Varoufakis, the other for tolerance. I understand that he thinks he will save himself by suppressing PASOK.. Well, perhaps the problem of Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Tsipras is not in cooperation with PASOK, but in the extermination of PASOK. So I tell every progressive citizen to vote for the party of big changes, reforms, NHS, public education, independent power, without adventures, to create a real counterbalance to arrogance, authoritarianism and the client state, as expressed by Mr. Mitsotakis in this four-year period, and also Mr. Tsipras during the previous four years,” said the President of PASOK.

“One is a populist without a tie, the other is a populist in a tie. They are leading the country to new adventures and a strong PASOK will be an obstacle to those adventures because it also respects democracy and is a party that believes it can achieve sustainable development through social democracy so that the Greek people have much better days. “, stressed Mr. Androulakis.

Asked about statements made by Mr. Mitsotakis, who claims that the President of PASOK refuses to meet, he repeated: “Mr. Mitsotakis never called me officially, on the basis of protocol, as happened in his meetings with political leaders in the past. I met twice with the President of the Republic. There was a protocol. So I want to call the prime minister’s office from your show to send you tomorrow morning when they sent me an invitation to discuss a national question or a question that concerns Greek society, and I refused. Never. If Mr. Mitsotakis thinks we are neighbors and PASOK is a party “friendly” to New Democracy. If he considers himself a “strategic” partner and can have such arrogance and such contempt, I want to tell you that he is defeated. PASOK is an autonomous PASOK, with a deep history, with social roots. We are the rivals of Mr. Mitsotakis, just as we are the rivals of Mr. Tsipras. We are not partners. And it will be proven Sunday and Monday“.

ABOUT reports of Mr. Tsipras to Andreas Papandreou, the president of PASOK-Movement for Change insisted: “Andreas Papandreou was not a co-ruler with far-right fringes like Kammenos, Mr. Tsipras. Andreas Papandreou would never say “the Aegean,” Mr. Tsipras. Andreas Papandreou would never say that the sea has no boundaries. That is why we have a long way to go to teach us lessons about the patriotic, democrat, progressive Andreas Papandreou, about those who have no political relationship with him, about those who ruled with the extreme right, about those who called Andreas Papandreou ” agent.” and there is a representative of Karamanlis in their party.”

He addressed progressive voters, remarking: “On the one hand, Mr. Tsipras says he can govern with Varoufakis. Another speaks for a government that voted for tolerance. Then he talks about the special appointment of the government. Yesterday he did say that Varoufakis is the sponsor of Mitsotakis, that he is talking about the Dimitra program. Why isn’t what Tsakalotos says about local currencies sponsored by Mr. Mitsotakis? Mr. Tsipras himself, who said about the fence of Evros that not the Europeans, but the Greek people should pay for it, is he not the sponsor of Mitsotakis? What he says about the “Prespa of the Aegean” and that “the sea has no boundaries”, is he not the sponsor of Mitsotakis?

Unfortunately, this is reality. If PASOK were a strong and official opposition, Mr. Mitsotakis would be in the past, because the entire democratically progressive world could count on a reliable solution. It is my concern that the people have a solid solution to finally do away with power systems that undermine the public interest, and their only concern is the chairman.”

“We have a front. Front against evil, toxicity, populism, elitism. For a place to turn the page. I want people to remember if the practices of New Democracy and SYRIZA are similar. Mr. Mitsotakis claims that I do not represent progressive modernization and that PASOK is a populist party. Who is speaking; In 2010, if the PASOK MPs followed what Mr. Tsipras and Mr. Mitsotakis voted for together, there would be a drachma in the country. Even Mr Mitsotakis’ sister voted to stay in the euro. Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Tsipras together – I emphasize this so that the people remember who a populist is and who did everything possible to harm the country to become prime minister – voted for the drachma. Who is a progressive modernizer? I got where I went, and no one will ever come back and tell you: “I was appointed by Andrulakis to the state.” If you put the hooligans of Mitsotakis and his family in a row, then they will exceed the Great Wall in length, ”added Mr. Androulakis.

PASOK President accused Mitsotakis and Tsipras of political unreliability: “Do you consider reliable the one who promised “seismachty” and “not a single house in the hands of a banker” and ended up selling billions of euros of “red loans” to funds that are now blackmailing the Greek people? Do you consider someone who spoke about good jobs, respect for institutions, ending the institutional breakdown of Tsipras and making the biggest post-revolutionary scandal with his nephew and driving the economy to its current mess with 500 euro jobs and a huge public debt, do you trust? No, these are unreliable people. A sound government is a government that will push Greece forward as the protagonist of events, not a tail that takes money from Europe and cannot do basic things,” Mr. Androulakis said.

Criticize government economic policy: “Let’s see what the OECD says: real wages fell by 7.4% in 2022. State revenues account for 66% – that is, 2/3 – from indirect taxes, which mainly concern the poorest segments of the population and the middle class. Real foreign direct investment – productive investment – fell by 14%. And the purchasing power of Greek households ranks third from the bottom in the European Union. Our debt has increased by 45-50 billion euros. If these elements now create a sense of security or confirm the words of Mr. Mitsotakis, then I disagree. These figures show that the Greek economy is getting worse and worse.

We have the biggest trade deficit since 2010 right now. Let’s move on to growth. What is our height? Do we have growth with good jobs? Do we have extroverted growth with large exports? Do we have growth that creates a stable economy? No, we have real estate, the acquisition of already existing Greek enterprises. Real estate is a sale. If now the investment and development of Mr. Mitsotakis leads to the de-Hellenization of the Greek economy, this will have disastrous consequences for the future of the country.”

Finally, the President of PASOK emphasized Greek-Turkish: “The only way to improve Greek-Turkish relations, apart from our own strategy, is the dominance in Turkey of a government structure that will not include the extreme right. This is a big problem. Bahçeli leads Erdogan even further, one pulling the other. If Aksener is strong at the base of Kılıçdaroğlu, it is not good for Greece. If 9% HDP is strong, that’s good. Well, it is in our interests that there are no strong nationalist elements in the Turkish cooperation government.”
