In the presence of three prime ministers Kyriakou Mitsotakisfrom Antonis Samaras and his Kostas Karamanlis ND’s “Europe Day” event is currently taking place at Zappeion on the occasion of 43rd anniversary of the country’s accession to the EEC.
The event began with a short retrospective video focusing on Greece’s progress in Europe, starting, of course, with the signing of our country’s accession document to the then EEC by Konstantinos Karamanlis in Zappeion.
OUR Kyriakos Mitsotakis he began his speech by saying that “we remain steadfast in the choice of Konstantinos Karamanlis.” He noted that the two former prime ministers, Karamanlis and Samaras, remained unshakable in this choice, not calculating the political cost.
The Prime Minister noted that “Greece is no longer in 2015, nor in 2012, nor in 2010, when the wrong prescriptions were imposed on us.”
“We are no longer going to accept such prescriptions, and no one can now point a finger at us for allegedly not following European directives, when our performance is much better than in many European countries,” said K. Mitsotakis. He pointed to the Recovery Fund as a useful tool in this direction.
For my part, Mr. Kostas Karamanlis, explained that “the country needs stability and a clear four-year horizon. And this can only be ensured by the New Democracy faction, as it has always done, with the support of all of us. Our faction is strong and will achieve another victory in the upcoming elections.” And he added, referring to Kyriakos Mitsotakis: “The next government, the Prime Minister, must continue its efforts with even greater intensity, especially in the areas of health, citizen security and the administration of justice.”
ABOUT Antonis Samaras, who, among other things, stressed: “In these difficult conditions, the country needs political stability. He cannot afford political instability, bad governance, endless party bargaining. After the elections, the country needs a stable government with a clear mandate and a four-year horizon. Only our faction can guarantee this stability and perspective. What he has been doing for almost half a century.”
In addition to former prime ministers, among those who presented their “gift” are European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas, Petros Moliviatis, Stavros Dimas, Dimitris Avramopoulos, Dora Bakoyannis and others.
