An opening to citizens of all political hues, no matter what they voted for. Alexis Tsipras from Preveza, pointing to the leaders of other left parties, saying that “our enemy and our adversary are the right-wing Mr. Mitsotakis“.
Mr. Tsipras repeated his challenge to Kyriakos Mitsotakis for a personal television confrontation. In particular, he stated:
“Shortly before my arrival in Preveza, Popi Tsapanidou told me that the Mega TV channel invited us to a debate to inform the Greek people about the positions of the two parties claiming the first place.”
He began a dialogue with those assembled by asking, “What are you saying, am I coming?” collect the answer by shouting “yes”.
He continued by asking, “Do you think Mr. Mitsotakis will come?”, only to get the answer “no”. He then personally addressed the prime minister: “He who is afraid and has no arguments cannot claim the vote of the Greek people. Mitsotakis, it’s time for a crisis. I invite you to come for a personal conversation face to face. Why do you refuse, what are you afraid of, are you not jumping to victory? You will not be glorified in hiding. No one in this place was glorified secretly. The truth is that Mr. Mitsotakis is afraid not only of me, but of every television interview with journalists who do not ask him questions, he does not go, he is afraid. Let him be, let him do what he thinks, I will wait for him there and let him not come. But he will definitely come to the meeting on May 21, and there the parrots do not vote, the sociologists do not vote, the citizens of Greece vote, and there we will see the response of the Greek people.”
Mr. Tsipras referred to the nature of the elections and outlined his latest dilemma: “The May 21 elections are the first elections with simple proportionality, but we vote for who will govern. Undoubtedly, the party that comes first will be able to form a government. Don’t listen to what they tell you. There are no repeat elections. Mr. Mitsotakis, through Mr. Skertsov, revealed his intentions, if he is even half a unit ahead, he will take the opportunity to form a government, either by blackmail, or pressure, or defections, they are well aware of them they have the know-how. He will try to form a motley government from the first Sunday. There are no double elections. That is why we appeal to every democratic and progressive citizen. Voting corresponds to seats in parliament, but it also carries weight. Mr. Mitsotakis’ plan to form a motley government and remain in it for another four years can only be undone with SYRIZA’s victory in the May 21 elections. That is why we call on progressive, democratic citizens to realize that only a victory for SYRIZA can pave the way for change and the formation of a progressive government the day after the election.”
