Tsipras: It’s unfair that Serrai’s people become complicit with Karamanlis of Tempo

“It’s not fair to him Serrai people make him an accomplice of Karamanlis from Tempe,” his president stressed. SYRIZA – Progressive Alliancein a speech in the city of Serres, emphasizing that both Mr. Mitsotakis and the former Minister of Infrastructure must answer to the Greek people “whose bribe was the fateful stationmaster.”

“Today, here in Serra, we are proving that there are no impenetrable castles,” said Mr. Tsipras at the beginning of his speech and continued: “Today, here in Serra, we are proving that the time has come for change, the time has come to say so. far, as long as accuracy, as long as discrediting, as long as objectification, as long as speculation, nepotism, injustice. I want to thank you for this reception and, first of all, I ask you to give together the days left before the ballot box, this good and wonderful struggle to put needs and rights before us, to put our life, the perspective of this place before us. I am happy and proud to be fighting in this fight personally for the prefecture of Serres as a candidate for the prefecture.”

He then explained the reasons that led him to decide to be a parliamentary candidate for the prefecture of Serres, saying: “I want to explain to you the important 3 + 1 reasons why I decided that one of my candidacies should be here in Serres. The first reason is that I deeply believe that two-speed Greeks do not exist. I strongly believe that the region deserves to have equal or even greater rights in the development of this place.

The second reason is related to the fact that I give and we give, despite the orgy of disinformation and propaganda, a special value for our Macedonia and its prefectures, and that is why I chose my participation in the Macedonian law.

The third reason is that Serres and your prefecture may have a name, but they have not received any services in the last 4 years. Equally, it is a prefecture discredited by unemployment, or rather, by abandonment.

The fourth reason is that I think it is unfair to the Serrai people that some people want the Serrai people to wash away a great tragedy, a crime that must not be forgotten, the tragedy of Tempe. It is not fair that the people of Serrai and your county are mentioned in this election in connection with Karamanlis of Tembon. I honor the conservative voters, and I also honor the political family that gave the country important things. But sometimes familialism – and this is instructive for every citizen, regardless of who votes – can lead us into situations that are not only deeply conservative and unjust, but also dangerous. Because when someone bearing only his last name holds positions of responsibility and rules over people’s lives, this state of familiarity can become dangerous, not only deeply conservative and unfair.”

The President of SYRIZA-PS also addressed the “conservative” voters: “Therefore, we want to tell the citizens of Serra that this election, whether you are a centrist, a conservative, a progressive, a leftist or a rightist, you have a great responsibility. to show that your place does not deserve this heavy stigma. That your place can give a change message.

What has Mr. Karamanlis, minister of Tempe, done for his district in these four years? What I know is that unemployment in your county has risen to 35%, according to the job center. Accuracy is depriving the middle class of income, soon there will be only a few very rich and very poor in Serra, there will be no middle class. Merchants, shopkeepers groan, there is no turnover in their stores. The hospital is abandoned. Although the Organization provides for 160 doctors, and there are only 80 of them. This is even less than we had left before the start of the pandemic. In particular, the prefecture of Serres has a very large immigration of young people.”

Mr. Tsipras attacked the Prime Minister and former Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, pointing out the following:

“The choice of Mr. Mitsotakis and former infrastructure minister Mr. Karamanlis to finally become a candidate in this election is a policy that highlights the hypocrisy and that they really don’t care about their chairs. And this is deeply sad.

I want to be clear, I have nothing personal that we should all work together to restore credibility in politics. It is impossible to resign supposedly on emotions and take responsibility for the tragic incident and agree with the prime minister about returning in 30 days. And this is not possible with this theater that we saw in the days after this tragic accident, with the responsibility of Mr. Mitsotakis himself, who blamed the stationmaster.

And today, I think, Mr. Mitsotakis, as well as Mr. Karamanlis, who claims the vote of your fellow citizens, who wants the whole prefecture to make him an accomplice, must answer the Greek people: whose bribe was this fatal stationmaster after all? Whose bribe was he, uneducated, unfit? 57 human lives require an answer.

We will not forget Not because we want a political revenge, but because we believe that we must not forget, so that we never again experience such tragedies. Because these tragedies are caused, on the one hand, by political hypocrisy, and, on the other hand, by indifference to political choices. We cannot devalue public space, we cannot assume that everything can be done in cooperation with private individuals and privatization. We can’t go on with this party state, with blue kids taking positions and the rest of the world in poverty.”

Mr. Tsipras demanded a citizen vote, saying characteristically: “We’re not asking for a second chance, we’re asking for the only opportunity to govern on our own agenda.”

At the same time, he expressed confidence that SYRIZA-PS is already ahead and on May 21 the people will give the order for a great coup.

Mr. Tsipras’ greeting to the citizens of Serra took place at the party’s polling station at the intersection of P. Tsaldari and Ermou streets.
