Elections: eight districts where a derby is expected

With a difference of less than two percentage points between N.D. And SYRIZA The electoral process in eight regions of the country ended in July 2019. These constituencies take on a special weight ahead of the upcoming election battle, as a small lead fuels expectations of a flip and a change of color on the election map.

In four of constituencies where the battle was marginally resolved, the ND won. it’s about the regions Eviawhere the ruling party received 1.7% more than SYRIZA, Ilias, where N.D. received 1.21% more votes, Yaninawhere the difference was 1.12%, and Corfu, with N.D. get 0.73% more than SYRIZA.

The official opposition party narrowly won the remaining four constituencies. In Western Attica scored 1.96% more than ND, in Arta took first place with a margin of 0.95%, in Rethymnon from 0.44% and in Lassithi the first place was determined insignificantly, the difference was only 0.25%.

Battle of Western Attica The upcoming elections will be tough. And this is because SYRIZA, despite the fact that she managed to become the first, took only one place in this region, with N.D. to win the remaining three. The official opposition party is seeking to regain its leadership, but is seeking to improve its percentage. It should be noted that in the 2019 elections, the difference between the two parties was only 1,496 votes.

A big difference from the elections in September 2015, when SYRIZA won over 19% and won three seats, while AA got the fourth. In the previous elections, the SYRIZA seat was given to George Tsipras, who is again a candidate. The Komunduru, in its attempt to abolish the small difference and win the district, stepped up the vote to include Diana Vutiraku, a professor of educational robotics who is seen as one of the party’s most dynamic new candidates.

A tough fight is expected in Western Attica, where the difference between the two parties in previous elections was only 1,496 votes.

On Evia N.D. with 36.61%, three deputies were elected, and SYRIZA, with 34.91%, won two seats, while the KKE won one seat. Here, too, the fight is expected to be tough, with no significant changes to the party ballots.

Ilya N.D. won three seats with a percentage of 36.03%, while SYRIZA elected one MP with 34.82% and PASOK won one seat. The significant differentiation in the region comes from the ND, as longtime party member Konstantinos Tsavaras has announced that he will no longer run for office. Dimitris Avramopoulos will be the ruling party’s Elijah candidate.

There will be a great fight in two regions of Epirus. In Ioannina N.D. ranked first with 37.42% and elected four deputies against one from SYRIZA, who scored 36.30%. IN Arta SYRIZA won with 39.94% and received one seat, as did ND. which received a percentage of 38.99%.

2019 election marginal result Corfu it also creates conditions for extreme competition, as the two main parties each elected one MP from the ND. to be slightly ahead, only 0.73%.

Accordingly, the fight is very interesting. in two of the four regions of Crete, in Lassithi and Rethymno. For SYRIZA, one of the most important stakes in the elections is to keep the entire map of Crete pink.

However, the very small difference in the previous elections created reasonable expectations among the ND electoral headquarters. that these are two areas in which the reversal of ratios can be claimed.
